Machine Vibration Analysis: Category III

This online course was designed for those people who need to acquire advanced understanding of Vibrational Technology and builds on the knowledge of the diagnosis of problems caused by high vibrations in machines and structures through case studies.  These case studies are drawn real world problems solved by the instructor during his 30 years of work experience with diverse companies throughout; South, Central and South America also in Middle East.  The demonstrations in class will allow students to learn the correct procedures and methods for solving a diverse set of problems.  By the end of the course, participants will be able to pass the Certification Exam for Category III Vibration Analysts (ISO 18436 part 2, accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to ISO/IEC 17024 “Conformity Assessment – General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons”)

Student Profile:

This class is geared for engineers, maintenance supervisors, design supervisors, operations supervisors, mechanical technicians, electrical technicians, or plant operators who have a least 3 years of experience with the application of vibration technology in rotating equipment and structures.

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Have the skills of a Category III Vibration Analyst who can apply advanced techniques to the diagnosis of problems in electric motors with variable frequency actuators, bearings, pumps, compressors, and fans.  They will learn the basic theory of transference functions, Cross Power Spectrum, Coherence, Dynamic Models, mathematical models for determining natural frequencies and their modes of vibration.

By gaining these skills, participants will be able to take more advance coursework such as ODS (Operating Deflection Shape) and AME (Experimental Modal Analysis).

Prerequisites

Participants need to have taken Basic Machine Vibration – CAT III.  In order to take the Certification Exam for Category III Vibration Analysts, participants will have had to have passed the Certification Exam for Category II Vibration Analysts.
